ABC Vancouver looks to set property tax hike at 3.9 per cent for 2025

Mayor Ken Sim announced a 3.9% property tax increase to balance Vancouver's $2.36 billion budget, significantly lower than previous hikes. The increase includes 1% for infrastructure and will result in average annual increases of $54 for condos, $149 for single-family homes, and $286 for business properties, alongside an 18.2% rise in utility fees. The budget reflects savings from optimizing resources and enhancing efficiencies. The Vancouver Police Department's budget request was trimmed to $425 million, including funding for body-worn cameras.
